Peacock (Pavo cristatus)

A symbol of beauty, grace and pride, the Peacock is the national bird of India. It is a large brightly colored bird native to South Asia, but widely found in India. They are mainly found in open forest and farm lands where they feed on berries, grains and also pray on snakes, lizards and small insects.

In Hindu mythology the peacock is the vehicle of Lord Murugan.
