Munnar is the highest point in the Idukki district of Kerala ranging at above 4,500 feet, it is also one of the major tea producing areas of the country and has now become the headquarters for major tea producers in India.
Scattered throughout the mountains one can see the never-ending tea plantations and also the most stunning scenic beauty that is ideal for activities like trekking, photography, mountaineering and camping. India’s highest tea estate, Kolukkumalai, is located in Munnar and India’s famous Eravikulam National Park flows seamlessly into the tea plantations.
Munnar is also a short 3-hour drive from the Periyar Tiger Reserve situated in Thekkady.
